In the last two months northern Iraq has seen the mass exodus of ancient
communities of Christians, Yezidis, and other religious minorities as
the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham has swept across territory, facing
little resistance.

A disastrous turn of events in the last week and a half around the
Sinjar mountains in northwestern Iraq has caused an urgent humanitarian
disaster and forced the Obama administration to act.

Critics say it is too little too late. The White House has not done
anything to contain this fire, and instead has done everything to help
spread it by providing weapons, funds, and training to ISIS Jihadists in

The Syrian Army, Hezbollah, and the YPG have heroically held back Wahabi
and Salafi barbarian apes who make up the core of ISIS from flooding

But the storm is gathering. No country can be sheltered from the madness
that has been unleashed, not even America's biggest regional ally,
Turkey. Saudi Arabia is busy hiring mercenaries to defend its territory.
But they won't stand a chance. Ideological fanatics must be met with
their equally die-hard counterparts, whether they be Shiite militiamen,
Kurdish guerrillas, or Jewish nationalists.

Implausible Deniability - West's ISIS Terror Hordes in Iraq

August 8, 2014 (Tony Cartalucci - LD) - The US has pledged
assistance for victims of and even possible "airstrikes" against
terrorists who have surrounded and threaten to eradicate thousands of
religious minorities in Iraq. However, the terrorists themselves are a
product of US foreign policy in the Middle East and North Africa, and
instrumental in achieving Western objectives across the region. Punitive
strikes and aid to the victims of what is essentially a Western
mercenary army is part of maintaining plausible deniability.

The terror hordes originated from NATO territory and
have inundated Syria, Iraq, and now Lebanon. The goal of this well
funded, heavily armed, professionally organized mercenary force is
clearly to supplant pro-Iranian political and military fronts across
Tehran's arc of influence - from Baghdad to Damascus, to Lebanon and
Hezbollah along the Mediterranean. In the process, the heavily
indoctrinated rank and file have committed horrific atrocities ranging
from rape and torture to mass executions and sectarian genocide. While
such war crimes have been taking place in Syria since 2011, it is
becoming increasingly difficult to cover up similar crimes beyond
Syria's borders under narratives of "civil war" linked to the so-called
"Arab Spring."

ISIS began its invasion into Iraqi territory from NATO-member Turkey,
through Syria and riding in Toyota Hilux trucks - identical to those provided to "moderates" by the US State Department
as part of multi-million dollar "non-lethal" aid packages. ISIS did not
take these trucks from "moderates," the moderates never existed to
begin with. From the beginning, it was the West's plan to raise a
mercenary army of sectarian extremists operating under the banner of Al
Instead, various stories have been used by the West to explain the
appearance of ISIS in Iraq, the unprecedented scale of its operations,
its convoys of matching vehicles and now military trucks, artillery, and
even tanks. While the world is meant to believe ISIS spontaneously rose
from the desert and "stole" billions in cash, weapons, and gear, a much
simpler and documented explanation exists - Western state sponsorship -
and state sponsorship that continues even as the West denounces the monsters of their own creation.

ISIS Origins

Beginning in 2011 - and actually even as early as 2007 - the United
States has been arming, funding, and supporting the Muslim Brotherhood
and a myriad of armed terrorist organizations to overthrow the
government of Syria, fight Hezbollah in Lebanon, and undermine the power
and influence of Iran, which of course includes any other government or
group in the MENA region friendly toward Tehran.

Image: ISIS corridors begin in Turkey and end in Baghdad.
Billions in cash have been funneled into the hands of terrorist groups
including Al Nusra, Al Qaeda in Iraq (AQI), and what is now being called
"Islamic State in Iraq and Syria" or ISIS. One can see clearly by any
map of ISIS held territory that it butts up directly against Turkey's
borders with defined corridors ISIS uses to invade southward - this is
because it is precisely from NATO territory this terrorist scourge

ISIS was harbored on NATO territory, armed and funded by US CIA agents
with cash and weapons brought in from the Saudis, Qataris, and NATO
members themselves. The "non-lethal aid" the US and British sent including the vehicles we now see ISIS driving around in.

They didn't "take" this gear from "moderates." There were never any
moderates to begin with. The deadly sectarian genocide we now see
unfolding was long ago predicted by those in the Pentagon - current and
former officials - interviewed in 2007 by Pulitzer Prize-winning veteran
journalist Seymour Hersh.

Hersh's 9-page 2007 report, "The Redirection" states explicitly:

To undermine Iran, which is predominantly Shiite, the Bush
Administration has decided, in effect, to reconfigure its priorities in
the Middle East. In Lebanon, the Administration has coƶperated with
Saudi Arabia’s government, which is Sunni, in clandestine operations
that are intended to weaken Hezbollah, the Shiite organization that is
backed by Iran. The U.S. has also taken part in clandestine operations
aimed at Iran and its ally Syria. A by-product of these activities has
been the bolstering of Sunni extremist groups that espouse a militant
vision of Islam and are hostile to America and sympathetic to Al Qaeda.
"Extremist groups that espouse a militant vision of Islam" and are
"sympathetic to Al Qaeda" - is a verbatim definition of what ISIS is
today. Clearly the words of Hersh were as prophetic as they were
factually informed, grounded in the reality of a regional conflict
already engineered and taking shape as early as 2007. Hersh's report
would also forewarn the sectarian nature of the coming conflict, and in
particular mention the region's Christians who were admittedly being
protected by Hezbollah.

West's Feigned Concern Vs. Genuine Drive to Divide and Destroy

Now, as the US feigns concern for religious minorities being slaughtered
in front of the eyes of the world, it should be remembered that this
conflict was engineered, set in motion, and perpetuated intentionally by
the West for at least the last 7 years. The West knew the sectarian
genocide now unfolding in Syria, Iraq, and soon in Lebanon was the
inevitable result of their efforts to raise this regional mercenary

Western concern for religious minorities and the minimal provisions being made to "assist" them, is to maintain an increasingly tenuous plausible deniability.
The feigned dithering of the West in the face of their growing
mercenary force is to allow it to overrun the Iraqi government if
possible, create more havoc within Syria, and spread the chaos to

ISIS is a standing army that requires state sponsorship - billions in
cash, gear, weapons, and logistical, intelligence, and political
support. While the West claims it has been handing over hundreds of
millions to "moderates" in Syria, it has offered no plausible
explanation as to who is providing ISIS and other Al Qaeda affiliates
with even more resources enabling the extremists to displace these
"moderates." There is no other explanation besides the fact that there
were never any moderates to begin with and that the US, UK, France,
Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and even Israel, have from the beginning,
intentionally created a mercenary army composed of Al Qaeda extremists
of unprecedented dimensions and capabilities.

The direct war with Iran the West has for so long attempted to sell the
world is now clearly being replaced with an immense proxy war. It will
feign ignorance to the genesis of ISIS and the fact that no other
explanation beyond state-sponsorship exists to explain its continued
success on the battlefield. Token airdrops and even "airstrikes" against
ISIS positions will admittedly do nothing to disrupt ISIS' ongoing
campaigns across the region.
Depending on ISIS' ability to achieve the West's goals by proxy will
determine the level of direct intervention the West seeks across the
region. "Buffer zones" and "humanitarian interventions" to "relieve"
areas plagued by ISIS will conveniently leave terrorist safe havens
extending far beyond their current boundaries in NATO-member Turkey,
Jordan, and northwest Iraq.

Cash, Weapons and Surveillance: the U.S. is a Key Party to Every Israeli Attack - The Intercept

The U.S. government has long lavished overwhelming aid on Israel,
providing cash, weapons and surveillance technology that play a crucial
role in Israel’s attacks on its neighbors. But top secret documents
provided by NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden shed substantial new light
on how the U.S. and its partners directly enable Israel’s military
assaults – such as the one on Gaza.

Over the last decade, the NSA has significantly increased the
surveillance assistance it provides to its Israeli counterpart, the
Israeli SIGINT National Unit (ISNU; also known as Unit 8200), including
data used to monitor and target Palestinians. In many cases, the NSA and
ISNU work cooperatively with the British and Canadian spy agencies, the

The relationship has, on at least one occasion, entailed the covert
payment of a large amount of cash to Israeli operatives. Beyond their
own surveillance programs, the American and British surveillance
agencies rely on U.S.-supported Arab regimes, including the Jordanian
monarchy and even the Palestinian Authority Security Forces, to provide
vital spying services regarding Palestinian targets.

The new documents underscore the indispensable, direct involvement of
the U.S. government and its key allies in Israeli aggression against
its neighbors. That covert support is squarely at odds with the posture
of helpless detachment typically adopted by Obama officials and their

President Obama, in his press conference on Friday,
said ”it is heartbreaking to see what’s happening there,” referring to
the weeks of civilian deaths in Gaza – “as if he’s just a bystander,
watching it all unfold,” observed Brooklyn College Professor Corey Robin. Robin added: ”Obama talks about Gaza as if it were a natural disaster, an uncontrollable biological event.”

Each time Israel attacks Gaza and massacres its trapped civilian population – at the end of 2008, in the fall of 2012,
and now again this past month – the same process repeats itself in both
U.S. media and government circles: the U.S. government feeds Israel the weapons it uses and steadfastly defends its aggression both publicly and at the U.N.; the U.S. Congress unanimously enacts one resolution after the next to support and enable Israel;
and then American media figures pretend that the Israeli attack has
nothing to do with their country, that it’s just some sort of
unfortunately intractable, distant conflict between two equally
intransigent foreign parties in response to which all decent Americans
helplessly throw up their hands as though they bear no responsibility.

“The United States has been trying to broker peace in the Middle East for the past 20 years,” wrote the liberal commentator Kevin Drum in Mother Jones, last Tuesday. The following day, CNN reported that
the Obama administration ”agreed to Israel’s request to resupply it
with several types of ammunition … Among the items being bought are
120mm mortar rounds and 40mm ammunition for grenade launchers.”

The new Snowden documents illustrate a crucial fact: Israeli aggression would be impossible without the constant, lavish support and protection of the U.S. government,
which is anything but a neutral, peace-brokering party in these
attacks. And the relationship between the NSA and its partners on the
one hand, and the Israeli spying agency on the other, is at the center
of that enabling.

Last September, the Guardian revealed
that the NSA “routinely shares raw intelligence data with
Israel without first sifting it to remove information about US
citizens.” The paper published the
full top secret Memoranadum of Understanding between the two agencies governing that sharing. But the NSA/ISNU relationship extends far beyond that.

One newly disclosed top secret NSA document, dated April 13, 2013 and published today by the Intercept,
recounts that the “NSA maintains a far-reaching technical and analytic
relationship with the Israeli SIGINT National Unit (ISNU) sharing
information on access, intercept, targeting, language, analysis and

Specifically, “this SIGINT relationship has increasingly been the
catalyst for a broader intelligence relationship between the United
States and Israel.” Moreover, “NSA’s cyber partnerships expanded beyond
ISNU to include Israeli Defense Intelligence’s [Special Operation
Division] SOD and Mossad.”

Under this expanded cooperation, the Americans and Israelis work
together to gain access to “geographic targets [that] include the
countries of North Africa, the Middle East, the Persian Gulf, South
Asia, and the Islamic republics of the former Soviet Union.” It also
includes “a dedicated communications line between NSA and ISNU [that]
supports the exchange of raw material, as well as daily analytic and
technical correspondence.”

The relationship has provided Israel with ample support for both
intelligence and surveillance: “The Israeli side enjoys the benefits of
expanded geographic access to world-class NSA cryptanalytic and SIGINT
engineering expertise, and also gains controlled access to advanced U.S.
technology and equipment via accommodation buys and foreign military
sales.” Among Israel’s priorities for the cooperation are what the NSA
calls “Palestinian terrorism.”

The cooperation between the NSA and ISNU began decades ago. A top secret agreement between the two agencies
from July 1999 recounts that the first formal intelligence-sharing
agreement was entered into in 1968 between U.S. President Lyndon Johnson
and Israeli Prime Minister Levi Eshkol, and informally began in the
1950s. But the relationship has grown rapidly in the last decade.

In 2003 and 2004, the Israelis were pressuring the NSA to agree to a
massively expanded intelligence-sharing relationship called “Gladiator.”
As part of that process, Israel wanted the Americans to pay hundreds of
millions of dollars to fund Israeli activities. The specific proposed
“Gladiator” agreement appears never to have been consummated, derailed
by Israeli demands that the U.S. bear the full cost, but documents in
the Snowden archive pertaining to those negotiations contain what appear
to be two receipts for one or more payments of $500,000 in cash to
Israeli officials for unspecified purposes:

The surveillance-sharing relationship with Israel has expanded to include the NSA’s
British and Canadian counterparts, GCHQ and CSEC, both of which
actively participate in feeding the Israelis selected communications
data they have collected. Several documents from early 2009, at the
height of the Israeli attack on Gaza called “Cast Lead” that left more
than 1,000 people dead, detail some of this cooperation.

One top secret 2009 GCHQ project named “YESTERNIGHT” involved
“Ruffle,” the British agency’s code name for ISNU. According to the
document, the project involved a “trilateral (GCHQ, NSA and Third Party
RUFFLE) targeting exchange agreement covering respective COMSAT
accesses.” One of the “specific intelligence topics” shared between the
parties was “Palestinians”, although the GCHQ document states that “due
to the sensitivities” of Israeli involvement, that particular program
does not include direct targeting of Palestinians and Israelis
themselves. Another GCHQ document from February, 2009, describes “a
quadrilateral meeting for RUFFLE, NSA, CSEC and GCHQ.”

The British agency noted in early 2009 that it had been spying on
emails and telephone numbers specifically requested by ISNU, “and they
have thanked us many times over.”

The NSA and GCHQ receive intelligence about the Palestinians from
many sources. The agencies have even succeeded in inducing the
U.S.-supported Palestinian Authority Security Forces (PASF) to provide
them with surveillance and intelligence about other Arab groups in the
region. One July 2008 GCHQ document states:

Jordan also feeds surveillance data about the Palestinians to the
NSA. One classified NSA document from 2013 describes how “NSA’s
partnership with EWD [the Jordanian Electronic Warfare Directorate] is a
well established, long-standing and trusted relationship dating back to
the early 1980’s.” Specifically, the two agencies “cooperate on
high-priority SIGINT targets of mutual interest” that includes the
Palestinian Security Forces.

The document continues: “EWD provides high-interest, unique
collection on targets of mutual interest, such as the Palestinian
Security Forces; EWD is the sole contributor to a large body of NSA’s
reporting on this target.”

But even as the NSA and its partners are directed by political
branches to feed the Israelis surveillance data and technology, they
constantly characterize Israel as a threat – both to their own national
security and more generally to regional peace. In stark contrast to the
public statements about Israel made by American and British officials,
the Snowden archive is replete with discussions of the Israelis as a
menace rather than an ally.

NSA documents previously published by the Guardian
stated that “one of NSA’s biggest threats is actually from friendly
intelligence services, like Israel.” Another notes that the National
Intelligence Estimate ranked Israel as “the third most aggressive
intelligence service against the U.S.”

British officials have a similar view of the Israelis, describing
them as a “very real threat to regional stability.” One top secret GCHQ
planning document from 2008 notes that “policy makers remain deeply
concerned over the potential threat that Israel poses to a peaceful
resolution of the Iran problem, and to some of Israel’s less desirable
activities in the region.” Moreover, “Israel’s thinking on the long-term
threat offered by Iran to its fundamental foreign policy strategy of
armed deterrence may create very real threats to regional stability in

The NSA’s 2007 Strategic Mission List, identifying priorities for
surveillance targeting, repeatedly identifies Israel as one of the
leading threats in a diverse range of areas, including: “Combating the
threat of development of weapons of mass destruction” and “delivery
methods (particularly ballistic and nuclear-capable cruise missiles).”
The “focus area” for that concern is “WMD and missile proliferation
activities,” and one of the leading threats is listed as “Israel (cruise

The NSA internal discussion from that document regarding “Mastering
Cyberspace and Preventing an Attack on U.S. Critical Information
Systems” includes a subheading on “FIS [financial/banking system]
threats.” The nations identified as the leading FIS threats include
India, North Korea, Cuba and Israel. Similarly, Israel appears on the
list of countries believed by the NSA to be “Enabling EW

Another section of the threat assessment document is entitled
“Foreign Intelligence, Conterintelligence; Denial & Deception
Activities: Countering Foreign Intelligence Threats.” It is defined as
“Espionage/intelligence collection operations and manipulation/influence
operations conducted by foreign intelligence services directed against
U.S. government, military, science & technology and Intelligence
Community.” The countries posing the greatest threat: “China, Russia,
Cuba, Israel, Iran, Pakistan, North Korea, France, Venezuela, and South

Asked about its cooperative relationship with Israel, an NSA spokesperson told the Intercept:
“We are not going to comment on specific intelligence activities and
relationships.  The fact that intelligence services sometimes cooperate
in a lawful and appropriate manner mutually strengthens the security of
both nations.  Whenever NSA shares intelligence information or
technology, we comply with all applicable laws and rules.” A GCHQ
official refused to comment on the record beyond the agency’s standard
boilerplate claiming its activities are legal and subject to “rigorous

Legal or not, the NSA’s extensive, multi-level cooperation with
Israeli military and intelligence agencies is part of a broader American
policy that actively supports and enables Israeli aggression and
militarism. Every Israeli action in Gaza has U.S. fingerprints all over it.
Many Americans may wish that the Israeli attack on Gaza were a matter
of no special relevance or concern to them, but it is their own
government that centrally enables this violence.

The Bank Guarantee That Bankrupted Ireland - Truthdig

The Bank Guarantee That Bankrupted Ireland - Truthdig

By Ellen Brown, Web of Debt
This piece first appeared at Web of Debt.
The Irish have a long history of being tyrannized, exploited, and oppressed—from the forced conversion to Christianity in the Dark Ages, to slave trading of the natives in the 15th and 16th centuries, to the mid-nineteenth century “potato famine” that was really a holocaust. The British got Ireland’s food exports, while at least one million Irish died from starvation and related diseases, and another million or more emigrated.
Today, Ireland is under a different sort of tyranny, one imposed by the banks and the troika—the EU, ECB and IMF. The oppressors have demanded austerity and more austerity, forcing the public to pick up the tab for bills incurred by profligate private bankers.
The official unemployment rate is 13.5%—up from 5% in 2006—and this figure does not take into account the mass emigration of Ireland’s young people in search of better opportunities abroad. Job loss and a flood of foreclosures are leading to suicides. A raft of new taxes and charges has been sold as necessary to reduce the deficit, but they are simply a backdoor bailout of the banks.
At first, the Irish accepted the media explanation: these draconian measures were necessary to “balance the budget” and were in their best interests. But after five years of belt-tightening in which unemployment and living conditions have not improved, the people are slowly waking up. They are realizing that their assets are being grabbed simply to pay for the mistakes of the financial sector.

Five years of austerity has not restored confidence in Ireland’s banks. In fact the banks themselves are packing up and leaving. On October 31st, reported that Danske Bank Ireland was closing its personal and business banking, only days after ACCBank announced it was handing back its banking license; and Ulster Bank’s future in Ireland remains unclear.  The field is ripe for some publicly-owned banks. Banks that have a mandate to serve the people, return the profits to the people, and refrain from speculating. Banks guaranteed by the state because they are the state, without resort to bailouts or bail-ins. Banks that aren’t going anywhere, because they are locally owned by the people themselves.

The Bank Guarantee That Bankrupted Ireland
Ireland was the first European country to watch its entire banking system fail.  Unlike the Icelanders, who refused to bail out their bankrupt banks, in September 2008 the Irish government gave a blanket guarantee to all Irish banks, covering all their loans, deposits, bonds and other liabilities.
At the time, no one was aware of the huge scale of the banks’ liabilities, or just how far the Irish property market would fall.
Within two years, the state bank guarantee had bankrupted Ireland.  The international money markets would no longer lend to the Irish government.
Before the bailout, the Irish budget was in surplus. By 2011, its deficit was 32% of the country’s GDP, the highest by far in the Eurozone. At that rate, bank losses would take every penny of Irish taxes for at least the next three years.
“This debt would probably be manageable,” wrote Morgan Kelly, Professor of Economics at University College Dublin, “had the Irish government not casually committed itself to absorb all the gambling losses of its banking system.”
To avoid collapse, the government had to sign up for an €85 billion bailout from the EU-IMF and enter a four year program of economic austerity, monitored every three months by an EU/IMF team sent to Dublin.
Public assets have also been put on the auction block. Assets currently under consideration include parts of Ireland’s power and gas companies and its 25% stake in the airline Aer Lingus.
At one time, Ireland could have followed the lead of Iceland and refused to bail out its bondholders or to bow to the demands for austerity. But that was before the Irish government used ECB money to pay off the foreign bondholders of Irish banks. Now its debt is to the troika, and the troika are tightening the screws.  In September 2013, they demanded another 3.1 billion euro reduction in spending.
Some ministers, however, are resisting such cuts, which they say are politically undeliverable.
In The Irish Times on October 31, 2013, a former IMF official warned that the austerity imposed on Ireland is self-defeating. Ashoka Mody, former IMF chief of mission to Ireland, said it had become “orthodoxy that the only way to establish market credibility” was to pursue austerity policies. But five years of crisis and two recent years of no growth needed “deep thinking” on whether this was the right course of action. He said there was “not one single historical instance” where austerity policies have led to an exit from a heavy debt burden.
Austerity has not fixed Ireland’s debt problems. Belying the rosy picture painted by the media, in September 2013 Antonio Garcia Pascual, chief euro-zone economist at Barclays Investment Bank, warned that Ireland may soon need a second bailout.

According to John Spain, writing in Irish Central in September 2013:
The anger among ordinary Irish people about all this has been immense. . . . There has been great pressure here for answers. . . . Why is the ordinary Irish taxpayer left carrying the can for all the debts piled up by banks, developers and speculators? How come no one has been jailed for what happened? . . . [D]espite all the public anger, there has been no public inquiry into the disaster.
Bail-in by Super-tax or Economic Sovereignty?
In many ways, Ireland is ground zero for the austerity-driven asset grab now sweeping the world. All Eurozone countries are mired in debt. The problem is systemic.

In October 2013, an IMF report discussed balancing the books of the Eurozone governments through a super-tax of 10% on all households in the Eurozone with positive net wealth. That would mean the confiscation of 10% of private savings to feed the insatiable banking casino. The authors said the proposal was only theoretical, but that it appeared to be “an efficient solution” for the debt problem. For a group of 15 European countries, the measure would bring the debt ratio to “acceptable” levels, i.e. comparable to levels before the 2008 crisis.
A review posted on Gold Silver Worlds observed:
[T]he report right away debunks the myth that politicians and main stream media try to sell, i.e. the crisis is contained and the positive economic outlook for 2014.
. . . Prepare yourself, the reality is that more bail-ins, confiscation and financial repression is coming, contrary to what the good news propaganda tries to tell.
A more sustainable solution was proposed by Dr Fadhel Kaboub, Assistant Professor of Economics at Denison University in Ohio. In a letter posted in The Financial Times titled “What the Eurozone Needs Is Functional Finance,” he wrote:
The eurozone’s obsession with “sound finance” is the root cause of today’s sovereign debt crisis. Austerity measures are not only incapable of solving the sovereign debt problem, but also a major obstacle to increasing aggregate demand in the eurozone. The Maastricht treaty’s “no bail-out, no exit, no default” clauses essentially amount to a joint economic suicide pact for the eurozone countries.
. . . Unfortunately, the likelihood of a swift political solution to amend the EU treaty is highly improbable. Therefore, the most likely and least painful scenario for [the insolvent countries] is an exit from the eurozone combined with partial default and devaluation of a new national currency. . . .
The takeaway lesson is that financial sovereignty and adequate policy co-ordination between fiscal and monetary authorities are the prerequisites for economic prosperity.

Standing Up to Goliath
Ireland could fix its budget problems by leaving the Eurozone, repudiating its blanket bank guarantee as “odious” (obtained by fraud and under duress), and issuing its own national currency. The currency could then be used to fund infrastructure and restore social services, putting the Irish back to work.
Short of leaving the Eurozone, Ireland could reduce its interest burden and expand local credit by forming publicly-owned banks, on the model of the Bank of North Dakota. The newly-formed Public Banking Forum of Ireland is pursuing that option. In Wales, which has also been exploited for its coal, mobilizing for a public bank is being organized by the Arian Cymru ‘BERW’ (Banking and Economic Regeneration Wales).
Irish writer Barry Fitzgerald, author of Building Cities of Gold, casts the challenge to his homeland in archetypal terms:
The Irish are mobilising and they are awakening. They hold the DNA memory of vastly ancient times, when all men and women obeyed the Golden rule of honouring themselves, one another and the planet. They recognize the value of this harmony as it relates to banking. They instantly intuit that public banking free from the soiled hands of usurious debt tyranny is part of the natural order.
In many ways they could lead the way in this unfolding, as their small country is so easily traversed to mobilise local communities.  They possess vast potential renewable energy generation and indeed could easily use a combination of public banking and bond issuance backed by the people to gain energy independence in a very short time.
When the indomitable Irish spirit is awakened, organized and mobilized, the country could become the poster child not for austerity, but for economic prosperity through financial sovereignty.

Jihadist Terrorists Became Beloved Rebels In The Public Imagination

Jihadist Terrorists Became Beloved Rebels In The Public Imagination

When President Obama announced that he ordered the death of Bin Laden, an untruthful claim, his zombie-like followers gathered at the White House to cheer the end of Al-Qaeda's decade of terror. But, while they were busy cheering, their leader was secretly supporting Al Qaeda in its armed struggle against Assad.

This fact was at first suppressed, but now the whole world knows that Al Qaeda is leading the fight against Assad while being backed by the Obama administration, Turkey, Israel, France, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar.

According to neoliberal and neoconservative interventionists who hold sway in Washington, stopping Al Qaeda is less important than overthrowing a dictator. They're even bringing Al Qaeda back to life to fulfill their aims. At the same time, they're beginning to publicly acknowledge the long-suppressed reality that Jihadist terrorism is their creation.

Al Qaeda's international backers are telling the world, "Yes, we are international state terrorists, but our aims are noble and pure. Plus, no one can stop us, so there's no point in drawing public attention to our brutal practices and evil methods. We want Assad gone and we are willing to use terrorism to do it."

What is the world's answer to their monstrous aggressive wars and their support for Jihadi terrorism? For the most part, silence and compliance.

It seems terrorism is acceptable if the perpetrator is Barack Hussein Obama rather than Osama Bin Laden.

Terrorism, far from being the weapon of the weak and the fringe, is the cornerstone policy of the world's only superpower. And this begs the question, is the United States a world empire or a failed terrorist state.

The real target of Washington's global war on terror was American power and American liberty, not the loose-knit global network of Jihadist terrorism.

9/11 was an attack on America, but the attackers were operating from inside the heart of power in Washington. They captured the public's imagination with 9/11. The Jihadist scapegoats for that event have been rebranded as beloved rebels in a noble fight against Assad.

But their cause is not noble. So it is only natural and right that Assad treats the Jihadist terrorists who are killing Syrians as Bush and Obama treated them after it was claimed that they killed Americans on 9/11.

In Syria, the world is either with the victims or the terrorists. The world rightfully stood with America on September 11, 2001. It must now stand with Syria.

Flipping The Script: The Western Media's Syria Propaganda Is Falling Apart

What is written in the press is lies. What is hidden in plain view is the truth.

Do you remember this guy, Jason Russell? He was the frontman for the short-lived and over-hyped "Kony 2012" propaganda campaign that exploited young people's emotions to popularize a U.S. military invasion of Uganda. After his lies were exposed on the Internet he had a shocking meltdown in public. He ran around naked near traffic lights, smashed his fists on the pavement, and screamed bizarrely. The heavy spirit of Madness conquered his weak will.

The day before his freakish breakdown Russell was idolized in the mainstream press as a saint on a mission to save the children of Africa. His war propaganda documentary about the deceased CIA contractor Joseph Kony became hugely popular on Facebook and other social media outlets. But as soon as his mask came down and his craziness was captured by cameras, the media vultures forgot about his crusade and quickly moved on to the next hot story.

The new story that captured the corrupt Western media's attention was Syria. The conflict was heating up, and the "international community" was being pressed to take action against the country. "Assad is killing his own people," they said, without offering any evidence. "This is the next domino to fall in the Arab Spring, the rebels must be supported and Assad has to step down," so went the propaganda. And yadda yadda. The media's insane lies were repeated for months. Major media channels were engaged in non-stop propaganda warfare to destroy the independent Syrian state and reduce Syrians to slavery.

But then something remarkable and unexpected happened. Some Western journalists began telling the truth about the origins of the conflict, the true motives behind the West's anti-Syria propaganda, and the nature of the unpopular Syrian opposition.

The spell was broken.

In June, German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) reported that the infamous Houla massacre was committed not by Assad's forces, as it was claimed by the Western media at first, but by the NATO-backed terrorist opposition.

The official narrative about the Syrian conflict fell apart at that point. The moral case for overthrowing Assad was lost because it was based on total lies. The naked aggression by NATO's barbaric pawns against Syrian civilians was clear to see for anyone who was paying attention.

II. The Global Alternative Media Rises: End of Mainstream Propaganda

The establishment media no longer has a monopoly on reality. Official lies are challenged, buried truths are dug up, and objective reality is preserved. The magician's tricks have been revealed by spoilers in the crowd. The global alternative media is rising and it is an engine of peace, liberation, understanding, and sanity.

Even mainstream media figures are forced to admit that they have been lying to the world about nearly everything and that their warmongering views are not mainstream. They are losing their control over the minds of the masses, and like Russell of the Kony 2012 stunt, they are also losing control of their own minds.

In fact, establishment journalists have already gone crazy and lost their grip on reality. Their world is falling down around them and their temporary power is disappearing by the day. Truth is too strong a force. The establishment media is going against the gravity of reality and it is losing the battle.

But not everybody in the Western media has lost their heads and hearts. There are still some respectable and honourable journalists around who place the facts of history above the lies of governments. The writer "b" of MoA writes:
"There seems to be slight turn in the western media coverage of Syria. Here in Germany the press has now more reports showing the "rebels" as what they really are: traveling jihadists and foreign paid rabble. Commentators on the news websites are now mostly highly critical about the usual propaganda pieces and the German government policy of supporting the SNC. There also seems to be a slight shift in international media."
Whereas in the recent past the Western establishment media was all-powerful and its official narratives were unquestioningly accepted by the general public, today its legitimacy is rapidly collapsing and it is failing to make people believe in government lies.

Young consumers of news are looking to the rising global independent media to get the facts about critical issues and conflicts. In the process, their worldview is changing and their government-made beliefs are dying.

The truth about Syria, like the truth about 9/11, can be suppressed for the time being but it cannot be erased from the record of history.

Tony Cartalucci says that Western propaganda against Syria has gotten too out of control and as a result it is falling to pieces. The tangled lies are being exposed before their usefulness can be exploited. Here is an excerpt from Cartalucci's article, "US Treasury: Al Qaeda Runs Syrian "Rebellion":
"Now, it appears that the West's Arab "foreign legion," Al Qaeda, is about to suffer an unprecedented defeat - not at the hands of Western anti-terrorism forces, but at the hands of Syrian troops in the city of Aleppo. In a desperate effort to prevent this, the West is employing a series of desperate strategies ranging from portraying the trapped foreign-fighters committing atrocities inside Aleppo as "pending a certain massacre," to using the very presence of these foreign-fighters as evidence "Al Qaeada" is operating in Syria and must be "stopped" by Western intervention.

It is essential to understand that, as empires have always done, the monolithic corporate-financier interests of the West seek regional hegemony as a step toward global domination, and will say and do anything in order to achieve it. As resistance increases, the West's lies become more difficult to sell, the consistency of their propaganda overtly crumbling. The West, in nearly a single breath, has now claimed FSA fighters are both "Al Qaeda" that need to be eliminated, while also impeding a "massacre" by Syrian forces if something isn't done to save them.

When US President Obama referred to the "depths of depravity" regarding Syrian security operations in Aleppo, he and his script writers do so with the belief that Americans, and the world, are ignorant and disinterested in the truth, and will gladly allow Western foreign policy to once again prey on their emotions and good intentions to sell yet another destructive, self-serving military intervention."
It is strange to hear that Washington is at war with Al-Qaeda in Yemen, and, at the same time, it is an ally of Al-Qaeda in Syria. Only one of these two things can be true. Washington is either at war with Al-Qaeda or it is not.

Washington's sense of logic is funny and twisted, but it is not unique. That's the way of the world. Throughout history, empires first conquer the truth, reality, and human consciousness, and then move their way to resource-rich lands.

The power of an empire is dependent on the cult beliefs and cult personalities that are created to justify its brutal rule at home and abroad.

It is a sign of hope for the world and for the collective life of mankind when the sovereignty of truth overcomes an empire of death, in whatever age in human history.
